Badau Museum

The richness of historical culture reminders of Belitung which comes from Badau Kingdom still can be seen at Badau Museum around 29 kilometres from Tanjungpandan. In the history book of Belitung, written by DR. Osberger it's told that in the 15th century, the first javanese who come to Belitung was Ronggo Udo, who famous with his another name Datuk Mayang Gresik. He was the first King of Badau Kingdom. The last descendant of the king is Mr. Djohar, whose work now is a keeper of Badau Museum.

The remnants which rested are several keris, swords, gongs, samll gongs (called kelinang), garu Rasul (garu is a kind of tree, eaglewood, the rotted xylem of which yields fragnant resinous material) and together with 2 lances which known with designation "Tombak Berambu" (the hairy lance). It is said these lances have the high magic power. Therefore, the long box for keeping the lances must not be locked. Otherwise if it's looked the lances would move as if they wish to get out. Another evidences of Badau Kingdom remnants is the archeological sites of the Kings of Badau graveyard on the Gunung Lilangan or at the Badau people cemetry.
